WORKSHOP ON MENSTRUAL AND HYGIENE FOR ADOLESCENT GIRLS AND TRIBAL WOMEN

Seva Kendra Calcutta's NRM project organized a workshop on Menstrual health and hygiene for adolescent girls and tribal women in rural High Schools and remote villages in Jhargram andWest Midnapur Districts. The discussed topics in the workshops were mainly on menstrual health, Anemia , various complications during adolescent period and maintaining personal health and
hygiene. Disadvantages in using cloths during menstruation and the harmful consequences. Exchange of dialogue on the superstitious belief and social taboos related to menstruation, which
need to be discarded and intake of healthy food and iron tablets etc with regular contact with the rural health centres. Uses of Sanitary napkins and distribution of the same among women and girl during the workshops. These interactive and participatory workshops prove to be very helpful as the girls and women clarified numerous questions related to their health.
