AWARNESS PROGRAM ON MENSTRUAL HYGIENE

Project Name - Community Mobilization

Awareness Program on Menstrual Hygiene was held on January 27th, 2020 organized by Seva Kendra Calcutta’s Community Mobilization Team. Dr. Mahua Majumdar, Professor of National Institute of Homeopathy along with her team of doctors helped our women and young girls to understand the importance of Menstrual hygiene. When it comes to Menstrual Hygiene, most sections of the society treat it as a matter of Taboo rather than a natural fact, which eventually leads to very limited conversations even amongst the peers and ultimately neglecting it completely in the long run. Our women neglect menstrual hygiene because they are stigmatized by constant suppression from the society, treating it like some kind of a shameful act done by an individual.
The purpose of this awareness program was to provide them with clarity on Basic Menstrual hygiene and how they could openly talk about their problems without any hesitation, learning how to embrace their womanhood as they grow older.
Through this program, 125 participants benefited as they got a wider picture and understood the importance of Menstrual Hygiene.
