They also discussed the various other projects related to the Jubilee celebration such as the souvenir and installation of solar facilities in various schools and boardings.

SKC’s meeting with the Parishioners of Shanti Rani Girja at Bamandanga

A meeting was held on Sunday, May 19, 2013, between the parishioners of Shanti Rani Girja at Bamandanga and Seva Kendra Calcutta to discuss the SKC’s new solar battery recharging project in the area.

Fr. Franklin Menezes began the meeting by highlighting the success of the 2 Kw solar system installed at Henry House Boarding in Bamandanga. Fr. Henry, the parish priest of the Shanti Rani Girja seconded Fr. Franklin and explained how his boarders are enjoying the benefits of the solar system at the boarding.

Fr. Franklin further proposed the possibility of also starting a new solar battery recharging project as a community project in the parish. He assured the parishioners that Seva Kendra Calcutta will extend all possible help and assistance in planning, implementing and executing this project. However, he insisted that the success of this project will depend entirely on the firm willingness, unwavering cooperation and dedicated efforts of the parishioners. This project will be a communitarian project.

The parishioners in the meeting showed keen interest and eagerness to have a solar power system in the parish. They were convinced that the successful implementation of this communitarian project in Bamandanga could one day become a model to all other future solar power projects in various villages.

A village energy committee has been formed with 9 representatives from 4 different paras. They have developed the following action plan:

  1. A small team will receive further instructions from SKC concerning the project
  2. They will identify 50 families as first beneficiaries of this communitarian project
  3. Prepare a cost effective maintenance plan of the solar system
